WoW Cooking Guide
This World of Warcraft Cooking Guide explains how to work your way to level 300 with cooking. First, you'll need to read this guide to get the gold you'll need. Cooking is a challenge to level quickly as it requires a lot of meats that are not easily obtainable unless through killing the monsters by hand. Cooking is best leveled as you go from 1-60 and with Fishing. This cooking guide will take the approach that you simply want to level cooking and not fishing, so you will see where to go to get the materials.
This guide also assumes that you're max level.
Lets get cooking!
Go to your Auction House and check for any of these components. You'll want to do this when ever it is convenient to save time.
Cooking Materials
- Meats
- 40-50 Stringy Wolf
- 50-60 Bear
- 50-60 Lion
- 25-35 Raptor Flesh
- 50-60 White Spider
- 120-180 Giant Eggs or Wolf
- 10 Zesty Clam
- Spices/Misc
- 30-40 Mild Spices
- 25-35 Hot Spices
- 50-55 Dig Rats
- 180-240 Soothing Spices
- 12 Giant Eggs
- 20 Alterac Swiss
If you want to collect materials first follow these steps. Otherwise skip down to Apprentice Cooking:
- Purchase 30-40 Mild Spices from a trainer (I recommend UC trainer)
- Buy 1 Flint and Tinder and 10-15 Simple Wood for building cooking fires in the field
- Kill Wolves and Stalkers in Mulgore or Darkhounds around Trisifal Glades collecting 40-50 Stringy Wolf Meat.
- Slaughter Bears north of Sepulcher until you have 50-60 Bear Meat
- Kill Mountain Lions around Hillsbrad Foothills collecting 50-60 Lion Meat
- Travel to The Hinterlands and collect at least 12 Giant Eggs from Owlbeasts. Also kill Mangy Silvermanes. In addition to the 12 Giant Eggs you'll need a combined total of 120-180 of either. You can do this with as little as 120, but I'd recommend getting 180.
- Travel to Razor Hill in Durotar and buy the Cooking Receipe: Hot Lion Chops recipe from him
- Collect 50-55 Dig Rats from the Dwarves at Bael Modan
- Collect 50-60 White Spider Meat from the Darkfangs in Dustwallow Marsh
- Travel to Thunderbluff and buy 20 Alterac Swiss from the Innkeeper
- Travel to Shadowprey Village in Desolace and buy the Expert Cooking Book from Wulan
- Purchase the Roast Raptor Recipe from Nerrist in Grom'gol
- Purchase 25-35 Hot Spices from Nerrist
- Collect 25-35 Raptor Flesh from the Raptors around Grom'gol
- (It might be best to wait till you're 225 to do this) Travel to Steamwheedle Port in Tanaris and collect 10 Zesty Clam Meat from the Turtles
- Travel to Gadgetzan and obtain and complete Clamlette Surprize from Dirge Quikcleave (he's in the tavern)
- From Dirge, at the same time purchase the Recipe for Tender Wolf Steaks from Dirge Quikcleave
- From almost any Trade Supplier purchase 80-120 Soothing Spices + an additional Soothing Spice per Wolf Meat you collected
- Travel to Felwood and find Bale, purchase the Monster Omlet recipe

Artisan Cooking
- Travel to Thunderbluff and buy 20 Alterac Swiss from the Innkeeper
- Travel to The Hinterlands and collect at least 12 Giant Eggs from Owlbeasts. Also kill Mangy Silvermanes. In addition to the 12 Giant Eggs you'll need a combined total of 120-180 of either (80 eggs and 80 Wolf Meat). You can do this with as little as 120, but I'd recommend getting 180. If you want to return to Gadgetzan with the 12 Giant Eggs and return to collect more later that is also a good idea. If you come back after turning in Clamlette Surprize make sure you bring some Simple Wood and Timber so you can cook in the field.
- Travel to Steamwheedle Port in Tanaris and collect 10 Zesty Clam Meat from the Turtles
- Travel to Gadgetzan and obtain and complete Clamlette Surprize from Dirge Quikcleave (he's in the tavern). At the same time purchase the Recipe for Tender Wolf Steaks.

- Travel to Felwood and find Bale, purchase the Monster Omlet recipe
- Cook up as many Monster Omlets as possible
- Cook up as many Tender Wolf Steaks as possible
- You should be level 300
There are alternative instructions to get from 285-300 in other guides. It involves doing the Cenarion Hold Desert Recipe quest from Calandrath. It is straight forward but I do not consider it a effective option since you're already in Hinterlands.
If you want to learn to level to 70 in less than 10 days play time, check out these guides: horde or alliance.

Mistake...
This info is incorrect:
Cook up as many Monster Omlets as possible
Cook up as many Tender Wolf Steaks as possible
You should be level 300
By about 260 both of those recipes are gray and provide no experience. I am currently 278 cooking level and Summer Bass is the only recipe that allows points and even that is green. But in any case, Tender Wolf Steak and Monster Omlets are both gray and I am NOT at 300.

I'm a blood elf in Eversong Woods, trying to find an apprentice cooking trainer. But everyone I find (Master Chef Mouldier, Quarelestra, ...) will only train Journeyman and up. WTF is going on here?

Great invention! There are
Great invention! There are cooking trainers found throughout the game. More than likely you will find one in the second town you come upon after you create a new character. If you have difficulty locating one, ask a guard for directions. Train fishing also and you will be able to raise your cooking skill much easier.
